I have built up my confidence significantly – from communicating with the client and subcontractors to negotiating payments. My knowledge of the industry has grown considerably since University.

How would you describe the people you work with at Multiplex?

Throughout my time working at One Nine Elms, I have always been able to ask any member of the team for help and advice. I have always been encouraged to take on extra work and get involved in other areas I am interested in.

How is Multiplex supporting your long-term career goals?

I am regularly given the opportunity to discuss my progress with senior members of the project team. They ask me what I would like to achieve as well as what areas of the role I want to focus on. I have also been given the opportunity to begin my RICS, which I plan to complete in 2020.

What value do you think your role brings to your project?

I am involved in procurement, change management and delivery so have a good knowledge of each of these processes. This enables me to regularly assist people and provide more specific information in order to build up a wider picture of the project.

Aside from your day-to-day role, what other opportunities have you enjoyed since working for Multiplex?

I was given the opportunity to attend the first Women in Construction Summit. This was a day of seminars presented by women at different levels and roles within the industry.

Why did you choose to work for Multiplex?

Multiplex is a global company that constructs some of the most iconic buildings around the world. The chance to work for such a reputable company is an exciting opportunity and a great way to begin my career in construction. I also chose to work for Multiplex as it provides the opportunity to work abroad in Australia, which would be a key element to my future success.

What future do you see for yourself in the company?

Following the graduate scheme, I hope my level of responsibility increases and I can begin to manage more complex packages. The opportunity to run my own project commercially is a goal I hope to achieve in the future.

What is your current role?

I am currently a commercial graduate at One Nine Elms.

What’s been your proudest achievement at Multiplex so far?

I quickly became responsible for chairing all pre-tender, mid-tender and post-tender meetings for the packages I was procuring, involving both the client and subcontractors. This improved my confidence very quickly and enabled me to build a working relationship with the other parties involved in the project.

What do you think of the Multiplex Graduate Programme?

There is a significant amount of focus on career development and we are given plenty of opportunities to express our interests. The training and site walks arranged as part of the graduate scheme give you another chance to learn more about the company and communicate with other employees.
