Why did you decide to choose Engineering to study at University?
I was attracted to the construction industry due to its ‘hands on’ nature and because it offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects locally, offshore and overseas. In a team-oriented environment you are faced with new challengers daily and each project provides a different experience from the last. It is also very rewarding to visually see the project grow from start to finish.
What projects have you been involved with whilst on the Programme?
I started with Multiplex at the Cockburn ARC Recreation and Aquatic Centre. The project included construction of indoor basketball courts, eight swimming pools and a private training facility for AFL club, the Fremantle Dockers. This year I have been involved in the ECI team (early contracting involvement) for the Karrinyup Shopping Centre Expansion Project. Construction is expected to commence in January 2018 and will be one of the biggest shopping centre expansions being undertaken in WA. The project will include construction around a live operating shopping centre which has provided many challengers to design development and planning; in particular where the new structure interfaces with the existing.
Tell us what you like about being a Graduate/Cadet so far?
I have enjoyed the diversity of roles I have experienced so far. This has included an onsite supervision role at Cockburn and a design/planning role at Karrinyup. The culture is outstanding and consists of a group of highly motivated and well selected individuals that so far have offered me the platform to perform and grow.
What future do you see for yourself at Multiplex?
I’ve had a great start with Multiplex and look forward to making a positive contribution in the delivery of future iconic projects. In this capacity I will focus of creating sustainable relationships with clients while striving for outperformance in achieving budgetary and programme requirements.
